Goodbye cupcake!

 

My daughter's class had pajama day so I made her goodbye Tennessee cupcakes to fit the theme(we are moving in a week and a half to Texas!).  I got this idea from the cutest cupcake book:  Hello Cupcake.

 

 

The little boy and girl heads are made from tiny vanilla wafers and candy melts.  The heart is a sprinkle.  This book is great...really makes it easy for anyone to make these.

Butterfly cupcakes for my other daughter's class.  I took a short cut and bought the cupcakes but made the butterflies from candy melts.  This is also from Hello cupcake.

   

 

these were so easy to make.  Just trace the template from the book, slide it under parchment paper and pipe the chocolate onto the paper.  Fill it in with another color and there you have it!  Have fun and try Hello Cupcake! 

Goodbye to my Franklin Girls

 Three years ago I moved to Franklin, Tn from Austin Tx with my husband and two daughters.  It was a tough move at first moving away from our families.  But Very quickly I met some of the most amazing women I have ever met.  They are spiritual,beautiful, incredible mothers,teachers and unbelievably creative.  I know God directs us in everything we do and there is meaning through it all.  I believe I was destined to meet these incredible women.  I feel my family has grown in my three years here and they will always be in my heart.  Thank you for all of the love and support you have given me and most of all thank you for all the love.  I am a better woman for having known you.

We  took some fun pictures in downtown Franklin since I am moving back to Texas.  I thought I would share them with you.  Needless to say we had a lot of stares that morning.  Our photographer is Abby Seymour.  Her website is: abbyseymourphotography.com

 

     

Isn't this skirt fun!  It's the big girl's version of the tutu!  You can find it at junk gypsy.  They have it in children's sizes also.  Well, goodbye for now....not forever!  Love to my girls.....T 

Homemade pizza dough

 

I got this recipe out of Annabel Karmel's book below: mommy and me cookbook.

 

I love this cookbook for my girls because they can follow the recipe by looking at the pictures.

 

Your kids will love throwing their dough in the air like they do in a real pizzeria!  

Here is the recipe:

1 1/2 tsp dried yeast, 1 tsp sugar, 2 tbsp olive oil, plus extra for oiling, 1 cup warm water, 21/4 cups bread flour, plus extra for sprinkling, salt and pepper

1. Mix the yeast with 3 tbsp water.  Set this aside for 10 minutes or until it is frothy.  

2.  Sift the flour and add the sugar, salt and pepper.  Then make a well in the center.

3.  Pour the yeast, water and oil into the well.  Use your hands to mix everything together.

4.  Sprinkle the flour over a clean work surface.  Then knead the dough for 8 minutes, until it is smooth and elastic.

5. Oil a large bowl, put in the dough, and cover with plastic wrap.  Leave in a warm place until the dough has doubled in size.  

6.  Is it ready?  Poke holes in the dough.  If the holes stay, it's ready.

7.  Knead the dough again.  Then cut it into four equal pieces.  Roll each piece into a 7 inch circle and place on a baking sheet.  

8. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.  Spread sauce and place toppings on pizza.  Bake for 13 minutes.

Baking with children!

We had a chocolate craving yesterday so the girls and I made some yummy tartlets.  They are somewhat healthy with fruit!  ha ha

We love to cut the strawberries into heart shapes.

The ingredients are so decadent...4 eggs,cream,milk and sugar!  These are a few of my favorite things! My girls love to crack the eggs and whisk in the cream.

The best part of making tartlets/pie for my kids is getting their hands in the dough!
